A radical Iowa Democrat pastor running for Congress has sparked outrage after claiming that the September 11 terrorist attacks taught her about "anti-Muslim bigotry" rather than the very real threat of Islamic extremism that murdered nearly 3,000 innocent Americans.
Sarah Trone Garriott, a Lutheran minister seeking a congressional seat, made the stunning comments in an opinion piece defending her controversial decision to read a Muslim prayer in the Iowa Senate in 2021. Instead of reflecting on the victims of 9/11 or the Islamic terrorists who orchestrated the deadliest attack on American soil, Garriott chose to focus on supposed "harm" caused by Americans' legitimate concerns about radical Islam.
This is exactly the kind of backwards, anti-American thinking that has infected the modern Democratic Party. While families across America were mourning the loss of fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters killed by Islamic terrorists, Garriott was apparently worried about hurting the feelings of Muslims.
The Woke Mind Virus Infects Churches
Garriott's comments reveal how deeply the progressive mind virus has penetrated even America's churches. Rather than standing with the victims of Islamic terror, this so-called "pastor" is more concerned with virtue signaling about imaginary bigotry.
"The September 11 attacks made me more aware of anti-Muslim bigotry and the harm it caused," Garriott wrote, completely ignoring the actual harm caused by the terrorists themselves.
This is the same warped worldview that has American liberals defending Hamas terrorists while condemning Israel for fighting back. It's the same twisted logic that labels concerned parents as "domestic terrorists" while coddling actual criminals.
Iowa Deserves Better
Iowans deserve representatives who will defend America and American values, not apologize for them. They need leaders who understand that 9/11 was an attack on our way of life by Islamic extremists – not an opportunity to lecture Americans about tolerance.
With President Trump leading the charge to restore sanity to our government, the last thing Congress needs is another woke Democrat more worried about political correctness than protecting the homeland. Will Iowa voters see through Garriott's radical agenda, or will they send another America-last liberal to Washington?
