House Speaker Mike Johnson is facing a conservative revolt after announcing he will ram through a "clean" extension of Section 702 surveillance powers without allowing any amendments to protect Americans from Deep State spying.

The Louisiana Republican's decision to block privacy reforms has ignited fury among America First lawmakers who remember how these same surveillance tools were weaponized against President Trump during the Russia hoax. Now Johnson wants to hand these powers back to the intelligence agencies with zero accountability measures.

Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act allows federal spy agencies to collect communications without warrants - powers that expire in April. While supposedly targeting "foreign" communications, these programs routinely sweep up millions of American communications in what critics call a "backdoor" into our private lives.

Deep State Protection Racket

Johnson's refusal to allow amendments reeks of establishment protection for the same intelligence apparatus that launched illegal surveillance operations against Trump's 2016 campaign. Why is the Speaker so desperate to protect agencies that have repeatedly abused their power?

Conservative lawmakers are demanding basic reforms like requiring warrants before searching American communications caught in these dragnets. But Johnson apparently believes the FBI - the same FBI that raided Mar-a-Lago - deserves unlimited spying power over law-abiding patriots.

"Any changes could derail its renewal," Johnson argued, prioritizing Deep State demands over constitutional protections.

This sounds eerily similar to the fear-mongering tactics used by swamp creatures for decades. Remember when they told us the Patriot Act was essential for our safety? How'd that work out?

Trump's Second Term Under Threat

President Trump's America First agenda depends on dismantling the administrative state's power to spy on political opponents. Johnson's cave-in to intelligence agencies suggests some Republicans still haven't learned that these powers will be turned against conservatives the moment Democrats regain power.

Patriots elected Republicans to fight the Deep State, not enable it. If Johnson won't protect our Fourth Amendment rights from government surveillance, what other constitutional principles will he sacrifice to appease the Washington establishment?

The Fourth Amendment is crystal clear about unreasonable searches and seizures. Johnson is complicit in shredding our constitutional rights for the sake of political convenience.

This is exactly why we can't trust the establishment GOP. They talk a big game during campaigns but fold the moment they get to Washington.

My grandfather fought in WWII for our freedoms and now we're willingly giving them away to the deep state.

Can someone explain what specific amendments were blocked? I want to understand the full scope of what Johnson prevented.

The amendments would have required warrants for spying on American citizens and limited the scope of FISA surveillance programs.

Johnson has completely betrayed the American people! We elected Republicans to STOP this surveillance state madness, not enable it.

Exactly! What's the point of having a Republican Speaker if he's going to act like Pelosi?
