In a stunning display of misplaced priorities, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) went on NPR Tuesday to defend the Iranian terror regime while simultaneously attacking President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for refusing to cave to Tehran's demands.
Van Hollen's backwards logic reached new heights of absurdity when he claimed that "Tehran has been willing to make some concessions with respect to its nuclear program, and has been from the start." According to the Maryland Democrat, it's actually Trump and Netanyahu who are the unreasonable ones in this equation.
Let that sink in, Patriots. A sitting U.S. Senator is publicly siding with the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism over America's democratically elected President and our strongest Middle Eastern ally.
Iran's 'Concessions' Include Funding Terror
What exactly are these "concessions" Van Hollen is praising? The same Iran that chants "Death to America" in their parliament? The regime that funds Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis? The theocracy that executes protesters and oppresses women?
This is the same failed Democratic thinking that gave us the disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal under Obama, which sent pallets of cash to Tehran while they continued developing ballistic missiles and spreading chaos across the region.
In a moment of accidental honesty, Van Hollen also admitted that Iran has become "more radical now" – apparently without connecting the dots that maybe appeasing radical regimes doesn't actually moderate them. Who could have seen that coming?
Trump's Strength vs. Democrat Weakness
President Trump's approach to Iran couldn't be more different from the Obama-Biden weakness that Van Hollen apparently yearns for. Through maximum pressure sanctions and backing our allies, Trump's administration is working to contain Iranian aggression rather than reward it with concessions.
While Democrats like Van Hollen rush to defend America's enemies, President Trump stands firm with our allies and puts American interests first. The contrast couldn't be clearer.
Is this really where the Democratic Party stands in 2026 – defending terror regimes while attacking the President of the United States?
