Philadelphia's Democrat leadership is so desperate to revive their party's fortunes that they're willing to gamble $35 million in taxpayer money to bring the Democratic National Convention back to the City of Brotherly Love in 2028 – just as the party faces its worst crisis in decades.
Mayor Cherelle Parker's office pushed through a proposal for a massive line of credit to lure the DNC back to Philadelphia, with the City Council advancing the scheme on Monday. But here's the question every taxpayer should be asking: Why are Democrats so confident they'll even have a party left to host by 2028?
The timing couldn't be more telling. As President Trump settles into his second term with a decisive mandate from the American people, the Democrat Party is hemorrhaging support, credibility, and relevance. Their 2024 campaign was such a spectacular failure that they're now reduced to bribing cities with taxpayer funds just to find somewhere willing to host their increasingly radical agenda.
A Party in Free Fall
Remember what happened the last time Philadelphia hosted the DNC? The city spent millions, disrupted residents' lives, and watched as Democrats nominated candidates who went on to implement policies that drove inflation through the roof, opened our borders to chaos, and weakened America on the world stage.
Now Philadelphia wants to do it all over again, betting $35 million that the Democrat Party will somehow resurrect itself from the ashes of their 2024 defeat. That's a lot of money to spend on what increasingly looks like a political zombie convention.
While President Trump is busy implementing his America First agenda – securing the border, bringing jobs back, and restoring our nation's strength – Democrats are focused on expensive party planning. Talk about misplaced priorities.
Philadelphia taxpayers deserve better than having their hard-earned money used as a political slush fund for a party that has consistently failed to deliver for working Americans. The real question isn't whether Philadelphia can afford to host the DNC – it's whether the DNC will even be worth hosting.
