Thursday's special election to replace Democrat Governor Mikie Sherrill's old House seat is virtually guaranteed to result in the election of Analilia Mejia, a self-described "social justice activist" and former political operative for Socialist Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign. And yes, she's already being touted as the newest member of "The Squad."
Let that sink in for a moment. While President Trump is working tirelessly to secure our border, bring back American manufacturing, and restore common sense to our government, New Jersey Democrats are doubling down on the same failed progressive policies that have turned cities like San Francisco and Portland into crime-ridden wastelands.
Another Squad Member? Seriously?
Mejia's background reads like a progressive activist's dream resume and every patriotic American's nightmare. Her time with Sanders' campaign means she's been thoroughly indoctrinated in the socialist policies that would fundamentally transform America into something our Founders would never recognize.
This is what happens when establishment Republicans fail to mount serious challenges in winnable districts. Instead of fighting for every seat, we're essentially handing over another House vote to the radical left on a silver platter.
The timing couldn't be worse. As President Trump works to implement his America First agenda with Republican majorities in Congress, every single House seat matters. Having another Squad member voting lockstep with the progressive wing means more obstruction, more resistance, and more theatrical grandstanding instead of governing.
