Veteran Action is throwing its support behind Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) in Alaska's Senate race, releasing a new ad that praises him as a strong supporter of America's veterans. The endorsement and ad were first obtained by Breitbart News.
Veteran Action describes itself as an advocate for America First policies that "strengthen national security and provide unwavering support for our veterans." The group is releasing the ad as Sullivan faces former Democratic Congresswoman Mary Peltola and another Republican candidate who is also named Dan Sullivan.
Sullivan serves on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee (SVAC) and was among those who introduced the Protecting Regular Order (PRO) for Veterans Act in the Senate. The bill passed the upper chamber last year.
"I want to thank my Senate colleagues for joining me in passing legislation to establish basic accountability measures at the VA, like quarterly in-person budget reports to Congress and the withholding of bonuses for senior VA and OMB leaders involved in any future budget debacle," Sullivan said at the time. "I urge my colleagues in the House to pass our PRO Vets Act for commonsense guardrails on VA leadership that will help safeguard the benefits of our courageous veterans who've sacrificed so much on our behalf."
The ad also highlights Sullivan's military record, including 30 years in the Marine Corps, two returns to active duty, and a deployment to Afghanistan where he helped dismantle terrorist networks. The organization points to his role in sponsoring the Veterans Access Act and backing the Veterans Bill of Rights, which aim to secure proper care and accountability for those who earned their benefits through service.
Mark Lucas, founder and president of Veteran Action, said the organization backs Sullivan because he "leads from the front on veterans policy" and has not stopped serving since his military career. Lucas added that Sullivan's track record on veterans' issues makes him a natural ally.
The endorsement comes as the Veterans Benefits Administration has faced a historic $15 billion budget shortfall and needs an immediate $3 billion injection to continue delivering benefits. That funding request was incorporated into a supplemental package but was blocked by Senate Democrats.
Sullivan's work on veterans issues is part of a broader record that includes his recent push on fisheries policy. His Bycatch Reduction Act cleared the Senate Commerce Committee on Sept. 16, and he called it "the most comprehensive trawl bycatch reduction bill, really, ever" in a video posted to social media. Sullivan also takes credit for the first-ever caps on chum salmon bycatch in the Bering Sea pollock fishery, which the North Pacific Fishery Management Council approved in February.
The race has drawn attention from other groups as well. Safari Club International's Political Action Committee (SCI-PAC) endorsed Sullivan for reelection, citing his work on public lands access, opposing restrictive federal and state wildlife-management overreach, and supporting firearm and hunting rights.
Meanwhile, prediction markets show Peltola leading Sullivan in the Alaska Senate race, according to Kalshi, despite new staff allegations that have put a key Republican-held seat in play. Peltola has made fishing the centerpiece of her campaign, reviving her longtime "Fish, Family, Freedom" slogan and calling for a ban on factory trawling.
The race could help decide which party controls the Senate, Gunnar Knapp, a retired University of Alaska Anchorage economist, told the Alaska Beacon.

It's about quarterly budget reports and withholding bonuses from VA and OMB bureaucrats who screw up. That's the kind of commonsense accountability that veterans deserve, and it's exactly the kind of thing that the swamp hates.
Meanwhile, the Veterans Benefits Administration is facing a $15 billion shortfall, and Senate Democrats blocked a $3 billion emergency injection. Think about that. Our veterans earned their benefits. They don't ask for much. And yet, when it comes time to fund the system that cares for them, Democrats say no. It's disgraceful.
Veteran Action is right to back Sullivan. He's not just talking about supporting veterans — he's passing bills, holding the VA accountable, and making sure the men and women who served don't get forgotten.
The outcome of this race will affect more than just Alaska. Control of the Senate is on the line. If Peltola wins, she'll be a rubber stamp for the radical Left. If Sullivan wins, veterans have a warrior in their corner.
