Illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border have collapsed to historic lows and Border Patrol has now gone 16 straight months without releasing a single illegal alien into the interior of the country, according to figures the White House highlighted Monday.
The White House account posted a direct message to Americans: "Zero releases in the last 16 months and record low illegal crossings." It added, "President Trump has delivered on his promise to solve Biden's border disaster. This is what results look like."
Rapid Response 47, the administration's rapid-response arm, framed the milestone the same way, announcing that illegal border crossings have collapsed to historic lows under Trump policies as CBP marks 16 straight months of zero releases.
Nearly 95 Percent Drop From Biden-Era Peak
The numbers behind the milestone come from unofficial Border Patrol reports reviewed by Breitbart Texas.
Approximately 8,900 illegal aliens were arrested in September after crossing the border between ports of entry, bringing total apprehensions for the recently closed-out fiscal year 2026 to just under 137,000.
That stands against FY23, the peak year of the Biden border crisis, when Border Patrol agents apprehended 2,475,669 illegal aliens along the southwest border who crossed between ports of entry. The FY26 total of nearly 137,000 represents a 94.47 percent decrease.
The drop has been steady across the Trump administration's second term. Migrant apprehensions fell from 2,135,005 in FY24 to 443,671 in FY25, according to official CBP reports.
"It's not out officially yet, but we're going to report soon: a full year with no releases from the border," U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott told Breitbart's Matthew Boyle in an exclusive interview.
Scott had told Breitbart earlier this month that not a single illegal alien was released by Border Patrol into the interior of the United States after illegally entering the country, extending the streak past 16 months since the administration's new policies on migrant releases took effect.
Unaccompanied Minors Down Sharply
The sharpest category decline came among Unaccompanied Alien Children. CBP reported 137,235 UACs apprehended at the border in FY23. That number fell to slightly more than 7,600 in FY26.
The Department of Homeland Security announced in September that Border Patrol released no illegal aliens into the U.S. interior.
The White House's message Monday tied the results directly to the president's border agenda, contrasting them with the record numbers racked up under the previous administration.
