President Donald J. Trump's new White House Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia, will hold her first press briefing Tuesday at 9:30 AM from the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room, ending a weeks-long stretch without a permanent voice at the podium.

Trump announced the debut in a post on Truth Social Sunday, writing:

"I am pleased to announce that Katie Zacharia will be beginning her term as Press Secretary tomorrow, Columbus Day, and will be doing an introductory News Conference on Tuesday at 9:30 A.M. from the Press Briefing Room in the White House. Katie has been with me, in spirit, from the very beginning, and will do a fantastic job!"

Zacharia, an attorney and mother of four, steps into the role following the August departure of Karoline Leavitt, who served 19 months as the first press secretary of Trump's second term before leaving the position on August 27. Leavitt's exit created a vacuum at the podium that stretched through September and into October.

The appointment comes as the White House press corps enters what many observers describe as a fundamentally different era — one where access is restricted for outlets the administration views as hostile, and where the press secretary's role has evolved from traditional spokesperson to full-throated defender of the president's agenda.

Who Is Katie Zacharia?

Zacharia brings a background steeped in conservative communications and legal training to the briefing room. She is a graduate of Pepperdine Caruso School of Law and served as senior communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social, according to her online resume.

She has been a fixture on conservative media, appearing frequently as a pro-Trump commentator on Fox News and Newsmax. Her advocacy extends beyond politics — she served on the advisory board for The White Rose Resistance, an anti-abortion group that draws its name from Christian students who opposed the Nazi regime.

Trump praised her loyalty in announcing the appointment. According to NPR's reporting, the president described her as having "an unblemished record of support" and called her "a devoted fan and member of MAGA!"

A New Era in the Briefing Room

The briefing room Zacharia inherits is not the one Sean Spicer or Sarah Huckabee Sanders knew. According to reporting from NPR, the White House restricted access last month for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico — outlets the administration considers unfriendly to its agenda. The Justice Department has since launched an investigation into the five television networks that share pool video coverage of the president.

This represents a sharp break from the traditional relationship between the White House and the press corps that covers it. Zacharia's tenure will either continue restricted access or recalibrate it.

Republicans, meanwhile, face a challenging midterm environment. NPR reports that Trump's popularity has fallen to record lows and that Republicans are scrambling to limit potential losses. The press secretary's ability to communicate the administration's wins — from the Russia diesel deal to border security progress — will be tested immediately.

Zacharia's First Test

The new press secretary signaled her approach in a Friday post on X, thanking Trump for what she called the "distinguished privilege" of serving in the role.

"The work ahead is to continue delivering strong results for our Country and communicating to the American people the major wins that this Administration is making every single day," Zacharia wrote. "I look forward to working with the White House press corps, and with reporters across the country, to get that record out."

She also appeared on "Fox & Friends Weekend" Saturday to tout the administration's newly announced deal with Russia to supply more than 1.8 million tons of diesel fuel to U.S. and global markets aimed at lowering fuel and grocery costs.

"President Trump has heard people have been frustrated with the gas prices. People are frustrated with the increasing grocery prices. And he is delivering what he always does, which are solutions," Zacharia said on Fox News.

Her debut comes on the heels of Columbus Day and follows a pattern Trump established during his first term, when he cycled through four press secretaries — Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, and Kayleigh McEnany.

Our Take

Katie Zacharia is walking into a briefing room that the establishment media believes it owns — and she should make clear from her first sentence that it does not.

The legacy press spent eight years trying to destroy Donald Trump, and they spent the last four trying to destroy anyone who speaks for him. Karoline Leavitt understood this. She treated the podium as a battleground, not a tea party, and she gave as good as she got. Zacharia should do the same.

" Let them. Every attack will remind the American people why they voted for Trump in the first place.

The real test isn't whether Zacharia can parry with reporters from CNN or MSNBC. It's whether she can speak directly to the folks at home — the parents worried about grocery bills, the workers watching gas prices, the patriots who just want someone in Washington who fights for them.

Trump promised solutions. Zacharia's job is to make sure the country hears about them over the noise.

Her first briefing is Tuesday at 9:30 AM. Patriots should tune in. The establishment media certainly will — and they're already sharpening their knives.
