The Department of Justice has announced charges against 16 individuals accused of election crimes, including illegal alien voting, casting ballots on behalf of the dead, voting multiple times, and making false statements on citizenship applications in order to register to vote.

According to the DOJ, the cases involve both an illegal alien and legal non-citizens voting in federal elections. Among those charged are several individuals identified as lawful permanent residents.

Portuguese National Arrested in Philadelphia

In a statement released Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations arrested an alien who has been charged with illegally voting in the 2024 election in Pennsylvania.

"On October 5, HSI Philadelphia arrested Paulo Jorge Silva, a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) from Portugal, in Philadelphia," the DHS statement read. "Silva has been charged with voting by an alien after voting records show that he is an active registered voter in Philadelphia and voted in the November 5, 2024 election."

Silva, 54, was charged by information with voting by an alien during the 2024 election, according to the DOJ.

Multiple Foreign Nationals Charged

The DOJ announced charges against Pakistani national Jamil Ahmad, 50, a lawful permanent resident, who has been charged by information with voting by an alien during the 2024 election. Pakistani national Nighat Jamil, 47, also a lawful permanent resident, faces the same charge.

Two additional aliens who are lawful permanent residents – Peruvian national Silvia Delgado Phelps and Jamaican national Staciann Pollion Davis – were charged by criminal complaint with voting as an alien in the Southern District of Alabama.

Polish national Dawid Nalepa was charged with unlawfully voting as an alien after coming into the country around 2020 through the Visa Waiver Program. He is accused of casting a ballot despite his non-citizen status in the 2024 election.

Pakistani national Arshed Zuberi and Filipino national Eliza M. Moss were also charged by criminal complaint with illegally voting in a federal election as aliens.

Charges for Voting on Behalf of the Dead

Patrick Perea, 62, was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of fraudulent voting, accused of trying to vote on behalf of his dead wife via her absentee ballot in the 2024 election.

The DOJ's announcement comes as Democrats and establishment Republicans continue to oppose passage of the SAVE America Act, which would require a person to present proof of citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections and a photo ID at the time of voting.

Polls show a broad consensus among Americans, as most believe one should have to show a valid photo ID and proof of citizenship to vote.

FBI Disrupts North Korean Revenue Stream

In a separate announcement Tuesday, the FBI disrupted a Pyongyang revenue stream involving North Koreans holding tech jobs in the United States.
