President Donald Trump dismissed renewed impeachment threats from Democrats, saying the only cause they could cite is his success in strengthening the nation.
In a video posted by the White House Rapid Response account, Trump was asked about Democrats' vocal calls for a third impeachment and what would happen if they gained control of Congress after the midterms. The interviewer noted, "Democrats have been very vocal about saying they want to impeach you for a third time. They don't know what they're going to impeach you for. They have no idea."
Trump responded by pointing to the country's economic performance under his leadership. "Well, the only thing they can impeach me for is the only one thing. And that's making our country strong, making our country rich," he said.
Record Economic Growth
The president highlighted the scale of investment flowing into the United States, contrasting it with the record of the Biden administration. "If you look back 10 years ago, China did $3 trillion. We're going to do $22 trillion in just 15 months," Trump said. "I think many times what China did compared to Biden in four years, he did a half a trillion. We're going to do in 15 months, $22 trillion, many, many times."
He reiterated that his economic achievements would be the only impeachable offense: "The only thing they can impeach me for is making our country really strong. The growth of this country, and you'll see that and it's already happening. It's already happening. The growth of our country is greater than it's ever been made."
Democrats' Impeachment Noise
The Rapid Response account captioned the clip with a direct hit on Democrats, writing, ".@POTUS on Democrats: 'The only thing they could impeach me for is making our country really strong.'" The video amassed over 1,500 likes, resonating with supporters who see the impeachment talk as political theater disconnected from any actual wrongdoing.
Trump's comments come as Democrats continue to discuss possible impeachment proceedings without specifying any articles, reinforcing the president's argument that their push is driven by opposition to his policies rather than any credible offense.
