President Trump delivered a blunt message on the war in Ukraine: his only concern is ending it.
Speaking to reporters, Trump was pressed on whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to make peace. The reporter noted that President Putin started the war, but Trump brushed the question aside.
"Well, you know, I know the details, okay? And at some point, I'll release the details. But I don't care anything except for once: I want that war ended," Trump said.
Staggering Casualty Figures
The President pointed to the human toll of the conflict, citing massive monthly losses. "25,000 soldiers on average a month of being killed last month with 32,000 soldiers," Trump said.
Dealing with Both Leaders
Trump confirmed he is in direct contact with both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and he believes both are ready to end the war.
"I think the two leaders, I deal with both of them. I think they want that war ended. And I think it's going to end," Trump said.
He added: "That's all I care about. I want that war to end."
The President's remarks reflect a singular focus on peace, even as he hinted at undisclosed details he may reveal later.
