President Trump on Friday praised the armed individual who intervened in a school shooting in Oregon, crediting the 'great hero' with preventing further loss of life.

Speaking about the incident, Trump said, 'As bad as it was, we had a great hero that went in and did the business... Thank God we had him, otherwise it would've been much worse. It's a terrible thing, but thank goodness for a man that had a gun and knew how to use it.'

The president's remarks came as details emerged from the deadly shooting at an Oregon school. He emphasized the role of the armed bystander who confronted the attacker.

'There was a great hero and it could have been as bad as it was if we had a great hero that went in and did the business. He took care of business,' Trump said.
