Vice President JD Vance touted the Trump administration's policy achievements during a Michigan town hall, pointing to lower inflation, a secured border, and renewed investment as proof that the America First agenda is delivering for working families — even as he admitted the country still faces challenges after what he called decades of bipartisan neglect.

'We Actually Did It'

The White House shared a clip of Vance contrasting the current administration's record with Democratic promises, declaring: "We didn't just talk about closing the border — we actually did it. We didn't just talk about getting opioid overdose tests down. We actually did it. We didn't just talk about bringing trillions of dollars of new investment into the country. We actually did it."

Vance said the border barely came up at the Michigan event, a sign of progress: "When I did a town hall in Michigan yesterday and the border didn't come up at all, I thought to myself, how different is this from two years ago where that was the number one or number two concern for most voters?"

Reversing Biden's Damage

In a separate clip posted by the Republican Party's rapid response account, Vance acknowledged the administration inherited deep problems from the prior Democratic leadership. "All of these things were so much worse than the Biden administration and we have made significant improvements," he said. "Inflation is lower. House prices are lower. Rents are more affordable than they were three years ago."

The vice president credited President Trump with reversing a 40-year bipartisan consensus that shipped American jobs overseas. "Donald Trump has done more in 18 months than any other president has done in 10 years to reverse that problem," Vance said, "but there's still a lot more work to do."

Vance framed the upcoming election as a choice between Republicans working on solutions and Democrats who caused the problems: "Don't elect the people who cause these problems, elect the Republicans who are working on these problems and solving them every day."
