The first shipment of oil from the historic Venezuela deal reached Corpus Christi, Texas, marking a major step in President Trump's energy strategy. The White House announced that the oil will be refined at home, increasing domestic supply and lowering prices at the pump.
President Trump's leadership secured the deal, which the White House credited for making the shipment possible. The agreement opens access to the 17 best oil fields in Venezuela, with a total potential of 65 billion barrels eventually making its way to the U.S.
One Million Barrels Delivered at No Cost
Jarrod Agen, speaking for the administration, detailed the shipment: "This first shipment—one million barrels—came to the U.S. at no cost to the taxpayer. It's going to be refined in Texas, enter the U.S. system, and eventually help lower gas and diesel prices."
Texas refineries are currently operating at maximum capacity, with pipelines full. "Texas is drill baby drill," Agen said, noting that the additional crude from Venezuela will help meet demand.
Defeating Maduro and Securing Energy Independence
The deal was made possible after President Trump "got rid of Maduro," according to Agen, and opened a new chapter in U.S.-Venezuela relations. The Department of War is partnering with the largest independent company in Venezuela to develop its oil fields.
This first shipment is just the beginning. With more crude flowing to U.S. refineries, the administration expects relief at the pump for American families already benefiting from lower fuel costs.
