Vice President JD Vance is touting the Trump administration's crackdown on fraud, declaring that the era of unchecked abuse of taxpayer-funded programs is ending. In a video posted by the White House Rapid Response account, Vance said the administration has already sent multiple people to prison and prosecuted dozens of individuals who were previously ignored.

"We've already thrown multiple people in prison because of fraud in the Trump administration. We've prosecuted dozens of people that weren't even being looked at," Vance said. He pointed to schemes involving immigration fraud, visa fraud, and theft from welfare, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security programs.

Accountability Without Politics

Vance contrasted the administration's approach with what he described as politically motivated prosecutions during the Biden era. He said the current effort is driven by facts and law, not partisan targeting.

"One of the reasons why we saw so many of those Biden-era prosecutions fall apart is because they were obviously politically motivated," Vance said. "What we're trying to do is actually let the facts and the law drive this stuff, which is why I think we have a much higher rate of getting these prosecutions."

He emphasized that the administration is not prosecuting people based on their political affiliation, but because "they are fraudsters, and they deserve to go to prison."

Fraud Linked to Affordability Crisis

Vance connected the anti-fraud efforts directly to the cost of living for American families. He said fraudsters are stealing hundreds of billions of dollars that should be going to citizens or returned to them as tax relief.

"If you're stealing hundreds of billions of dollars that should go to American citizens, or at the very least should be returned to Americans in the form of tax relief, and you're going out and spending that money, you know, buying a Mercedes-Benz as a fraudster, then you're actually contributing to the affordability crisis," Vance said.

He said the ultimate dividend of the crackdown will be more money in the pockets of the American people. "That's how we make life more affordable," Vance added.
