SALINA, Kan. — President Donald Trump closed out his midterm election blitz Sunday night at Salina Regional Airport, making his second trip to Kansas in two weeks to boost Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) in a competitive race against Democratic megachurch pastor Adam Hamilton.
"This is my 30th rally, and I'm closing it down tonight, this is it," Trump told the crowd, according to The Independent's live coverage. "I had to come here to make sure that Roger got elected."
The rally was originally pulled from the schedule in favor of a 72-hour tele-rally sprint before being restored, according to a post from @TrumpDailyPosts on X. Trump told the audience he initially "wasn't thrilled" about taking on a pastor until he reviewed the Democratic record, which he called "horrible."
"Just like everything else, the Democrats are trying to blame him, and he's too fine a man," Trump said. "That's why I wanted to come tonight."
Trump also urged the Salina crowd to back Senate President Ty Masterson (R-Andover) in the governor's race and to reelect Attorney General Kris Kobach, whom he invited on stage to address the crowd, according to the Washington Examiner's pool report. Kobach had spoken earlier in the program as well.
Iowa Stop Precedes Kansas Finale
The Kansas event followed an afternoon rally in Dubuque, Iowa, where Trump campaigned for Senate nominee Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA) and gubernatorial candidate Zach Lann. The Independent reported that Hinson is running against Democratic state Rep. Josh Turek for the seat being vacated by GOP Sen. Joni Ernst.
During the Iowa stop, Trump praised Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich."
The campaign swing comes as more than 50 million Americans have already cast early ballots, outpacing the 2022 midterm early-voting rate, The Independent reported. Republicans are banking on Trump's popularity with the base to drive turnout in a cycle where Democrats are expected to hold an edge.
Social Media Reaction
Video circulating online showed Trump telling the Salina crowd he would "take Christians to the promised land," a remark amplified by X user @MarioNawfal. Meanwhile, an Instagram post indexed Sunday claimed the Salina rally had been canceled — a claim contradicted by the event itself, which went forward as scheduled.
Trump previewed a possible closing message event at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, telling reporters he might hold an event there "tomorrow or something" without offering specifics, per The Independent.
Our Take
Three rallies in one day, 30 total on the cycle, and a president who refused to phone it in — that's the difference between a movement and a machine. Trump could have coasted on tele-rallies and let the consultants run out the clock. Instead he got on Air Force One and went to Salina to stand beside Roger Marshall and Ty Masterson.
And notice what happened: the legacy outlets can't stop churning out stories about a canceled Instagram post and anonymous whispers, while the actual rally went off without a hitch. They want you to believe the MAGA base is tired. Fifty million early ballots say otherwise.
Patriots, Election Day is Tuesday. The president just made his closing argument — now it's on you to finish it. Will you show up?
