A construction crane in New York City suffered a fiery catastrophe, collapsing amidst the morning rush. The crane, carrying 16 tons of concrete, caught fire and collapsed onto a busy street near Hudson Yards, injuring six, including two firefighters. The source of the blaze was the crane’s engine, according to FDNY officials. Despite efforts to control the inferno, the situation escalated, resulting in the crane’s destructive descent. Mayor Eric Adams lauded the prompt and effective response of first responders, highlighting how the timing of the incident could have resulted in a far worse outcome. This incident has yet again brought the significance of safety measures in city development to the forefront.
