Black voters are leaving the party according to new polling published on CNN. It shows the core part of the Democrat party base is rapidly changing.
Biden got less Black voters percentagewise to come out for him over a Republican in 2020 than any Democrat nominee since Bill Clinton in 1996. This follows a report from Gallup recently showing that Biden’s approval rating saw a 20+ point drop with Hispanics and young adults.
Biden’s approval rating among Black voting age adults is only 67%. This is down 20% from the beginning of his term in the White House. Compare that to Obama who had an approval rating with Black adults that never went below 75%.
CNN recently ran a poll with SSRS and found that approval rating with Black voters was 74% and 69% among black adults. Quinnipiac’s recent poll had him at around 64%. Pew had him at 72%.
There is one common denominator in all of this and that is that Biden is losing credibility with Black Americans.
This doesn’t mean that many people won’t still vote Democrat when it comes time during the election. Democrats still have a 62-point advantage among Black voters in recent polling.
The bad thing for the party of Andrew Jackson is that you’d have to look back as far as 1990 to find a year in which Democrats won the House with the numbers they have in their current polling, according to exit.
If Republicans can chip away at some of these key voting blocs for Democrats, then we could see a major takeover by the GOP in 2022.
