The wife of former First Lady Jill Biden's ex-husband was found dead Sunday night in Wilmington, Delaware, after police responded to a domestic dispute call at their residence.
Linda Stevenson, 64, was discovered unresponsive in the living room of the home she shared with Bill Stevenson, who was married to Jill Biden from 1970 to 1975, before her marriage to former President Joe Biden.
New Castle County Police Department officers arrived at the scene around 11:16 p.m. Sunday following reports of a domestic dispute. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by responding officers, Mrs. Stevenson was later pronounced dead.
Investigation Underway
Detectives with the NCCPD's Criminal Investigations Unit have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding Linda Stevenson's death. Police have not released additional details about the nature of the domestic dispute or the cause of death pending the ongoing investigation.
Bill Stevenson, who owned The Stone Balloon tavern near the University of Delaware campus, has previously made public statements about his former marriage to Jill Biden and the circumstances of their divorce. In past interviews, Stevenson has disputed the Biden family's account of how Joe and Jill Biden met.
"She's the greatest thing in my life," Stevenson had said about his current wife Linda in previous statements to media.
The incident occurs as the Biden family continues to face scrutiny over various personal and political matters, even after Joe Biden left office following President Trump's 2024 electoral victory.
This developing story highlights ongoing complications surrounding figures connected to the former First Family. The Delaware community where the Bidens built their political legacy now finds itself at the center of another tragic incident involving those in the former president's orbit.
The New Castle County Police Department has not announced any arrests in connection with the incident and continues to investigate the matter.
