Another day, another corrupt Democrat caught with their hand in the cookie jar. Former Georgia State Representative Karen Bennett has been federally indicted for fraudulently obtaining nearly $14,000 in COVID-19 unemployment benefits while she was actually working from home during the pandemic.

The Department of Justice announced charges against Bennett on Monday, marking yet another example of Democratic politicians thinking the rules don't apply to them. But here's the kicker – Bennett conveniently resigned from her seat just days before the federal hammer came down on January 5, 2026.

As one social media user pointed out,

"Former Georgia State Rep. Karen Bennett has been federally charged with fraudulently obtaining nearly $14,000 in COVID-19 pandemic unemployment benefits. She resigned her seat just days before the charges were filed on January 5, 2026."

This makes Bennett the second Georgia lawmaker to face fraud charges in just the past month. Reporter Beau Evans noted on social media that

"Rep. Karen Bennett was indicted Monday on federal COVID-19 fraud charges, the second state lawmaker arrested in Georgia over the past month."

A Pattern of Democratic Corruption

While hardworking Americans struggled to put food on the table during the pandemic lockdowns, Bennett allegedly decided to game the system for her own benefit. She claimed unemployment benefits meant for people who actually lost their jobs, all while continuing to collect her taxpayer-funded salary as a state representative working from home.

This is exactly the kind of swamp behavior that President Trump has been fighting against throughout his political career. Democrats constantly lecture us about "fairness" and helping the less fortunate, yet when push comes to shove, they're the ones stealing from the very programs designed to help struggling Americans.

Bennett's resignation timing raises serious questions about what else Georgia Democrats might be hiding. Did party leadership know about the investigation? How many other lawmakers are gaming the system while lecturing the rest of us about our civic duties?

Patriots deserve better than politicians who treat taxpayer money like their personal piggy bank. It's time to hold these corrupt officials accountable and restore integrity to our government – something the Trump administration is already working to deliver.

This is exactly why we need better oversight of government programs. When there's no accountability, Democrats treat taxpayer money like their personal piggy bank.

Typical Democrat! They scream about helping the poor while stealing from programs meant for people who actually need help. Lock her up!

Exactly! While small business owners were struggling to get legitimate PPP loans, fraudsters like this were gaming the system.

My restaurant barely survived COVID and we followed every rule to get legitimate help. Meanwhile politicians like this were stealing benefits while collecting paychecks. Makes my blood boil.

Will she have to pay restitution on top of any jail time? These politicians need to face real consequences, not just a slap on the wrist.

I remember when Bennett was running for office talking about 'fighting for working families.' What a joke - she was too busy stealing from them!

How much taxpayer money did she steal exactly? The article mentions COVID benefits but I want to know the full amount so we can see how serious this fraud really was.

From what I've seen reported elsewhere, it's over $15,000 in fraudulent unemployment claims. Not chump change!
