A Republican congresswoman is demanding immediate action from President Trump's State Department to secure the release of an American citizen reportedly being held captive by Venezuela's socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) is advocating for her New York constituent who has allegedly been detained in the collapsing South American nation, where the Maduro regime continues to terrorize its own people while thumbing its nose at the United States.

This latest case of American hostage-taking comes as President Trump enters his second term with a clear mandate to put America First and protect our citizens abroad – something the previous Biden administration failed miserably to accomplish.

Socialist Regime's Pattern of Hostage-Taking

Venezuela under Maduro has become a playground for anti-American regimes, with the socialist dictator routinely using detained Americans as bargaining chips. The Biden administration's weakness on the world stage only emboldened these thugs to continue their criminal behavior.

Now, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the helm – a Cuban-American who understands the threat posed by socialist dictatorships in our hemisphere – patriots can expect a much tougher stance against Maduro's criminal regime.

"We cannot allow foreign dictators to hold American citizens hostage while they destroy their own countries," a congressional source told reporters.

Malliotakis, who represents Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn, knows firsthand how dangerous socialist regimes can be. Her own mother fled communist Cuba, giving the congresswoman a personal understanding of the brutality these leftist dictatorships inflict on innocent people.

Trump's Promise: No More Weak Leadership

Unlike the Biden administration's failed foreign policy that left Americans stranded in Afghanistan and emboldened our enemies worldwide, President Trump has promised to restore American strength and protect our citizens no matter where they are.

With Trump's proven track record of bringing Americans home – remember how he secured the release of numerous hostages during his first term without giving away the store – this detained New Yorker may finally have hope.

Will Trump's America First foreign policy finally put an end to two-bit dictators thinking they can mess with American citizens? The answer should be coming soon.

Finally! This should have been done months ago. We can't let socialist dictators hold our people hostage while we sit around doing nothing.

Exactly right. Obama would have sent them a pallet of cash, but Trump actually fights for Americans.

Does anyone know how long this American has been held? The mainstream media sure isn't covering this story like they should be.

I think it's been over a year now. You're right though - if this happened under Biden the media would be all over it blaming Trump somehow.

I served two tours overseas and saw firsthand what happens when America looks weak on the world stage. These thugs only understand strength - time to show them some.
