House Democrats are once again showing their true colors, launching a desperate investigation into Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick over President Trump's brilliant decision to shut down the wasteful Gordie Howe International Bridge project in Detroit.
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), the top Democrat on the House oversight committee, announced Thursday he's probing an alleged meeting between Lutnick and billionaire owners of Detroit's Ambassador Bridge. The Democrats are clearly fishing for any excuse to attack the Trump administration's America First policies.
But here's what Garcia and his Democratic cronies don't want you to know: Trump's move to block this boondoggle project is exactly the kind of swamp-draining action that Patriots voted for in 2024.
Democrats Defend Wasteful Spending While Trump Saves Taxpayers
The Gordie Howe bridge project has been a classic example of government waste and crony capitalism. While Democrats cry about investigating meetings, they conveniently ignore the massive taxpayer burden this unnecessary project would have created.
This is the same playbook we've seen from the radical left since Trump took office in January – manufacture scandals, launch bogus investigations, and try to distract from the President's incredible success in putting America First.
"The Democrats are so desperate to find dirt on this administration that they'll investigate a Commerce Secretary for having meetings – you know, doing his actual job," said one GOP House member who requested anonymity.
Meanwhile, Commerce Secretary Lutnick continues his outstanding work implementing Trump's trade agenda and bringing jobs back to America. The left can't stand that this administration actually fights for American workers instead of global elites.
The Real Question Democrats Won't Ask
Instead of wasting time on this fishing expedition, shouldn't Democrats be asking why the Biden regime pushed forward with such a costly project in the first place? Why are they more concerned with defending wasteful spending than protecting taxpayer dollars?
This investigation is nothing more than political theater from a party that still can't accept that Trump is Making America Great Again. Patriots see right through this charade – and come 2026, they'll remember which party stood with American taxpayers and which one stood with the swamp.
