CBS News correspondent Ed O'Keefe just learned what happens when you bring weak sauce to a Karoline Leavitt press briefing – you get absolutely demolished while your own colleagues laugh at you.
During Wednesday's White House press briefing, O'Keefe thought he had a 'gotcha' moment when he challenged Press Secretary Leavitt about President Trump's recent social media post honoring civil rights leader Jesse Jackson. The president had written that he's been "falsely called racist" throughout his career, and O'Keefe apparently couldn't handle hearing the truth.
"Can you give us examples of President Trump being falsely called racist?" O'Keefe asked, probably expecting Leavitt to stumble.
Instead, America's youngest White House Press Secretary delivered a masterclass in factual beatdown that left O'Keefe looking like he'd never picked up a newspaper in his life.
Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings, Ed
Leavitt calmly rattled off example after example of the mainstream media's relentless smear campaign against Trump over the years – from the "very fine people" hoax to the endless mischaracterizations of his immigration policies. The response was so thorough and fact-based that even other reporters in the room couldn't suppress their laughter at O'Keefe's expense.
"The facts speak for themselves," Leavitt said with the confidence that only comes from being absolutely right.
This is exactly why President Trump chose Leavitt for this role. At just 27 years old, she's already proving she can handle the legacy media's gotcha games better than press secretaries with decades more experience.
The Trump Derangement Is Real
O'Keefe's performance perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with today's mainstream media. These so-called journalists are so consumed with Trump Derangement Syndrome that they've forgotten how to do basic research. They're more interested in manufacturing controversies than reporting facts.
The beautiful irony? O'Keefe's question actually gave Leavitt the perfect opportunity to set the record straight on years of media lies about our president. Talk about stepping on a rake.
When even your fellow reporters are laughing at your questions, maybe it's time to find a new line of work. But hey, at least O'Keefe learned something new that day: facts still matter, even in Biden's America.
