On Friday, January 30, students across the country participated in a so-called "National Shutdown Day," walking out of classrooms to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers doing exactly what they're paid to do - enforce immigration law.
The coordinated walkouts, which targeted middle and high schools nationwide, were organized to show "solidarity" with Minneapolis and other cities where ICE has been conducting lawful enforcement operations under President Trump's mass deportation agenda.
Here's the bitter irony: while Johnny and Julie are skipping math class to wave signs they probably can't spell correctly, America's education crisis continues to spiral. Reading scores are at historic lows, math proficiency has cratered, and yet these kids think the real emergency is stopping ICE from removing people who entered our country illegally.
Priorities Completely Backwards
Think about this for a moment, Patriots. We have an entire generation that struggles with basic literacy and numeracy, but they can organize nationwide protests faster than you can say "sanctuary city." Who's teaching them these priorities? The same education establishment that's failing to teach them how to read.
Meanwhile, President Trump's ICE agents are methodically fulfilling his campaign promise to restore order to our immigration system. These aren't random raids - they're targeted operations removing individuals who have violated our sovereignty and often committed additional crimes.
"These students are being weaponized by radical teachers and administrators who care more about political activism than academic achievement," one parent told reporters.
The walkouts reveal the complete capture of our education system by leftist ideologues who view classrooms as indoctrination centers rather than places of learning. Instead of teaching critical thinking, they're manufacturing activists who can't think critically about anything.
Real Americans Stand With ICE
While these misguided students skip school, hardworking American families are cheering ICE's enforcement efforts. They understand that a nation without borders isn't a nation at all, and they elected Trump precisely to restore immigration sanity.
Here's a radical idea: maybe if these students spent more time in class learning actual subjects instead of walking out for every left-wing cause, America wouldn't be falling behind the rest of the world academically. But that would require adults in the room - something our education system sorely lacks.
