Delaware Governor Matt Meyer just delivered one of the most tone-deaf statements in recent political memory, claiming that Democratic demands to end the Department of Homeland Security shutdown represent "a compromise" – while his party actively obstructs President Trump's America First agenda.
Speaking on C-SPAN's "Ceasefire" Friday, Meyer doubled down on the left's shameless obstruction tactics, somehow framing Democratic resistance to Trump's mass deportation operations as reasonable negotiation. This is the same delusional thinking that got Democrats crushed in 2024.
Let's be crystal clear about what's really happening here: Democrats are holding American security hostage because they can't accept that voters overwhelmingly rejected their open-border policies. Trump won a decisive mandate to secure our borders and deport illegal immigrants – something Meyer and his progressive allies apparently can't stomach.
The Real 'Compromise' Americans Want
While Meyer talks about compromise on a television show, real Americans are dealing with the consequences of years of failed Democratic immigration policies. Crime in sanctuary cities, fentanyl flooding our communities, and taxpayer resources drained by illegal immigration – these are the issues voters sent Trump back to Washington to fix.
The Governor's comments reveal everything wrong with the Democratic Party's current mindset. They lost the election, lost the Senate, lost the House, and lost the trust of the American people on border security. Yet somehow, Meyer thinks his party's demands constitute a "compromise."
This is classic leftist gaslighting – reframe your obstruction as moderation and hope nobody notices you're blocking the will of the people.
Trump Won't Back Down
Fortunately, President Trump isn't the type to cave to this kind of political theater. His administration has already demonstrated they're serious about implementing the agenda Americans voted for, regardless of Democratic tantrums in state houses.
Patriots across the country see right through Meyer's spin. We didn't elect Trump to compromise with the same failed establishment that created this border crisis in the first place. We elected him to fix it.
When will Democrats like Meyer finally accept that their open-border experiment failed spectacularly? And how long will they keep prioritizing illegal immigrants over the American citizens they swore to serve?
