While the Washington swamp expects politicians to play by their rules, Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) is doing something radical β he's actually spending time with the people he represents instead of rubber-stamping more government waste in Congress.
Hunt has missed 69 out of 158 congressional votes since launching his primary challenge against establishment favorite Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), and guess what? Texas voters couldn't care less about his Washington attendance record. They care about results.
"I'm putting in sweat equity," Hunt told supporters during his statewide tour, and that's exactly what Texas needs β a fighter who prioritizes Main Street over the Beltway cocktail circuit.
Real Work vs. Swamp Theater
While career politicians like Cornyn have spent decades becoming cozy with the DC establishment, Hunt is crisscrossing Texas, meeting with farmers, small business owners, and working families who are tired of being ignored by their so-called representatives.
This is what the America First movement looks like in action. Instead of showing up to meaningless procedural votes that change nothing, Hunt is building a grassroots army of patriots ready to send a real conservative to the Senate.
"The people of Texas don't need another senator who's more comfortable in Washington boardrooms than Texas barbecue joints," one Hunt supporter said at a recent rally.
Hunt's approach mirrors the same outsider energy that propelled President Trump to victory β twice. Voters are sick of politicians who talk a big game during campaign season but disappear into the swamp once they get to Washington.
Taking On the Establishment
Cornyn represents everything wrong with the Republican establishment. He's been in the Senate since 2002, racking up a record that includes supporting gun control measures and playing footsie with Democrats while Texas conservatives get sold out time and again.
Hunt's willingness to skip meaningless votes to actually campaign shows he understands something the establishment doesn't: senators work for the people, not the other way around.
Will Texas Republicans choose another decade of establishment politics, or will they send a true America First warrior to shake up the Senate swamp? Hunt is betting everything that Texas patriots are ready for real change.
