Texas Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales announced he will not seek re-election to Congress after admitting to an extramarital affair with a former staffer who later died by suicide, marking another victory for America First conservatives looking to drain the swamp of establishment politicians.
The scandal-plagued congressman representing Texas' 23rd District made his announcement just 24 hours after finally coming clean about the affair that has been the subject of a House Ethics Committee investigation. Gonzales cited his 20 years of military service and three terms in Congress as reasons for stepping aside, but Patriots know the real reason - his political career is OVER.
"Tony Gonzales announced he will not seek re-election for Texas' 23rd Congressional District. Gonzales said he made the decision after serving 20 years in the military and 3 terms in Congress," reported @StevenJLatham1 on social media.
This is exactly what happens when Washington swamp creatures think they can get away with anything while claiming to represent hardworking Americans. Gonzales has been a reliable RINO vote who often broke ranks with President Trump's agenda, and now his personal scandals have caught up with him.
The timing couldn't be more telling. As @ByMonaSalama noted on social media, Gonzales is "dropping his reelection bid for Texas 23rd congressional district" but plans to "serve out the rest of his term in Congress" - because apparently he thinks he can ride out the storm on the taxpayer dime.
Another Win for America First
While tragic circumstances surrounding the former staffer's death make this a somber situation, Patriots should celebrate that another establishment Republican who failed to put America First is heading for the exits. This opens up a prime opportunity for a true conservative to step up and represent the good people of Texas.
With Republicans controlling Congress under President Trump's second term, we need fighters who will advance the MAGA agenda - not politicians distracted by personal scandals and ethical lapses. The 2026 primary just got a lot more interesting, and Texas conservatives now have a chance to elect someone who will actually represent their values.
Will Texas Republicans seize this opportunity to elect a true America First candidate? The swamp is draining itself - one scandal at a time.
