The mask is officially off. Forty-seven Senate Democrats just voted against requiring photo ID to vote, completely exposing the hypocrisy of Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and his party's fake claims about supporting election integrity.
Senator Jon Husted (R-OH) introduced a straightforward amendment to the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act on Thursday that would simply require voters to show photo identification at the polls. The amendment outlined acceptable forms of ID that virtually every American already possesses.
But when push came to shove, Democrats revealed their true agenda: keeping our elections vulnerable to fraud.
Schumer's Stunning Hypocrisy
What makes this vote particularly outrageous is that Schumer himself has previously claimed to support photo ID requirements. Like so many Democrat politicians, he apparently believes different rules apply when his party's power is on the line.
"This vote proves what we've known all along - Democrats only care about election integrity when it serves their political interests," a Republican Senate aide told reporters.
The American people aren't buying this charade anymore. Poll after poll shows overwhelming support for voter ID requirements across party lines. Even a majority of Democrat voters support showing ID to vote - yet their representatives in Washington continue to block common-sense election security measures.
Why Democrats Really Oppose Voter ID
Let's be honest about what's happening here. Democrats claim voter ID is "voter suppression," but that's complete nonsense. You need an ID to buy alcohol, board a plane, open a bank account, or enter most government buildings. But somehow requiring ID to participate in our most fundamental democratic process is too much to ask?
The real reason Democrats oppose voter ID is simple: they benefit from chaos and uncertainty in our election system. Clean voter rolls and secure elections don't serve their political interests.
President Trump and the Republican majority in Congress are fighting to restore integrity to our elections, but Democrats are standing in the way at every turn. This vote proves they're more interested in preserving their ability to manipulate elections than protecting the sacred right to vote.
Patriots, it's time to hold these 47 Democrats accountable for putting party politics above election security. Will your senator explain why showing ID to vote is too much to ask?
