In what conservatives are calling a blatant attempt to rig New York's gubernatorial election, Democrats on the state's Public Campaign Finance Board voted along party lines Tuesday to deny Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman up to $7 million in public matching funds for his 2026 campaign.
The 4-3 vote split exactly along partisan lines, with all four Democratic members voting to block Blakeman's funding while the three Republican members supported the conservative candidate's rightful claim to the taxpayer-funded campaign assistance.
This is precisely the kind of partisan weaponization of government that patriots have come to expect from desperate Democrats who know they can't win fair fights. When you can't beat them on the issues, just change the rules, right?
The New York GOP immediately cried foul, with Chairman Ed Cox calling out the obvious election manipulation. As the state party posted on social media: "BREAKING: In a big to RIG OUR ELECTIONS, Democrats have DENIED @NassauExec Bruce Blakeman the public campaign funds to which he is entitled."
"GOP gubernatorial hopeful Bruce Blakeman denied matching campaign funds by Dems in party-line vote," noted one social media observer, adding that "Blakeman's campaign has already signaled he'll sue the state over the decision."
And sue he should. This isn't just about one candidate or one race - it's about the fundamental fairness of our electoral system. When partisan bureaucrats can simply vote to defund candidates they don't like, we're no longer operating in a constitutional republic.
Blakeman, who has served as Nassau County Executive, represents exactly the kind of America First leadership that could turn around New York's disastrous decline under years of radical Democrat mismanagement. No wonder they're terrified enough to resort to these underhanded tactics.
The real question isn't whether Blakeman will fight this obvious injustice in court - it's whether New York voters will see through this transparent attempt to rig their election and vote accordingly. Democrats are showing their true colors once again: when they can't win fair and square, they'll simply try to steal the game.
