Democrats are once again crying about "threats to democracy" - this time because Republicans are using the exact same legislative tactics they've been wielding for years to push through President Trump's border security agenda.
Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) appeared on MSNBC's "Ana Cabrera Reports" Thursday to clutch his pearls over Republicans using budget reconciliation to fund ICE and Customs and Border Protection operations, calling it "a real blow to rule-making and the democratic process."
Let that sink in, Patriots. The same party that used reconciliation to ram through Obamacare, trillions in COVID spending, and countless other radical left priorities is now suddenly concerned about parliamentary procedures when Republicans use it to secure our border and deport illegal aliens.
"This is a real blow to rule-making and the democratic process," Quigley whined, apparently forgetting his party's own playbook.
The sheer audacity is breathtaking. Where was Quigley's concern for "democratic norms" when Democrats used reconciliation to pass the American Rescue Plan? Or when they tried to use it for their massive Build Back Better boondoggle that would have fundamentally transformed America's economy?
Now that President Trump and the Republican majority are using the same tool to fulfill their campaign promises - securing the border, funding deportations, and putting America First - suddenly it's an assault on democracy itself.
The Real Democracy in Action
Here's what Quigley and his fellow Democrats refuse to acknowledge: The American people delivered a resounding mandate in 2024. They elected Trump to a second term specifically to secure the border and remove illegal immigrants who are draining resources and threatening public safety.
Using every available legislative tool to implement that mandate isn't a "blow to democracy" - it's democracy in action. Republicans are doing exactly what they promised voters they would do.
The only "blow to democracy" here is Democrats trying to obstruct the will of the American people after losing decisively at the ballot box. Their crocodile tears about procedural norms ring hollow when they've spent decades weaponizing those same procedures against conservatives.
Patriots, this is exactly why we can't trust the radical left. They change the rules when it suits them, then cry foul when Republicans play by the same playbook. Will voters remember this hypocrisy come 2026?
