In a stunning display of misplaced loyalty, Democratic Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) announced Monday she will introduce articles of impeachment against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth over alleged "war crimes" related to President Trump's decisive strikes against Iranian military targets.
The Iranian-American lawmaker, whose own parents fled the brutal Islamic regime decades ago, is now effectively serving as Tehran's defender in Congress. Ansari claims that targeting bridges and power plants "crossed a line" and has accused Trump of "escalating a devastating, illegal war."
What Ansari conveniently ignores is that Iran has been waging proxy wars against America and our allies for decades. From funding Hamas terrorists to threatening shipping lanes in the Persian Gulf, the Iranian regime has made itself a legitimate military target through its own aggression.
"House Democrat Rep. Yassamin Ansari said targeting bridges and power plants crossed a line, and moved to impeach Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over alleged war crimes tied to Trump's Iran strikes," reported social media user @JamesTate121, highlighting the Democrat's outrageous position.
This impeachment stunt represents everything wrong with today's Democratic Party. Instead of standing with America's right to defend itself, Ansari is playing politics with national security. Her parents understood the evil of the Iranian regime well enough to flee it - why doesn't she?
The timing is particularly suspicious. Just as Trump's strong leadership is finally putting Iran back in its place after four years of Biden's weakness, Democrats are trying to handcuff our military with frivolous impeachment charges.
Social media users quickly called out the hypocrisy, with @TopNewsbyCPAC noting how "an Iranian-American lawmaker" is leading the charge against American military leadership.
Patriots across America see right through this charade. Democrats would rather protect Iran's infrastructure than defend American interests. It's a disgraceful betrayal of both her constituents and the country that gave her family refuge from tyranny.
Will Republicans in Congress stand up and defend Secretary Hegseth against this partisan witch hunt, or will they let Democrats turn our military leaders into political targets?
