Leave it to Hollywood royalty to turn a glitzy movie promotion into a propaganda session for the radical left. Meryl Streep, while decked out in designer threads promoting "The Devil Wears Prada 2," couldn't resist tacking on tired Democrat scare tactics about the SAVE America Act during her appearance on Stephen Colbert's late-night echo chamber.

The 77-year-old actress, who arrived at "The Late Show" sporting a leopard print GIVENCHY blouse and GIANVITO ROSSI slingback heels according to fashion watchers on social media, used her platform to fearmonger about legislation that would simply require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections. Because apparently asking people to prove they're Americans before choosing America's leaders is somehow controversial in liberal la-la land.

"Meryl Streep arrived at The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' in NYC, wearing a leopard print GIVENCHY FW26 blouse and black pants," noted fashion account @style_starss, capturing the actress's designer ensemble.

The SAVE America Act has been stalled in the Senate for three weeks now, blocked by Democratic filibuster tactics and triggering a partial DHS shutdown. But instead of supporting basic election integrity measures that 80% of Americans favor, Streep parroted the left's ridiculous talking point that requiring citizenship proof would "disenfranchise millions of married women" because they change their last names.

This is the same crowd that demands multiple forms of ID to board a plane or enter a federal building, but somehow thinks requiring proof of citizenship to vote is voter suppression. The hypocrisy is staggering.

While Streep globetrots promoting her sequel – @t2telegraph captured her "meeting fans" in Tokyo for the May 1st release – she's completely out of touch with everyday Americans who want secure elections. Patriots across the country are demanding election integrity, not Hollywood lectures from someone whose biggest concern is whether she's wearing Chanel or Valentino to her next premiere.

The real question is: Why are Democrats so desperate to block a bill that simply ensures only American citizens vote in American elections? What are they trying to hide?

This is exactly why I stopped following celebrities on social media. They think their fame gives them credibility on policy issues.

Not surprised at all. Streep has been pushing leftist propaganda for years under the guise of 'entertainment.'

Used to love her movies but can't separate the politics from the art anymore.

The SAVE America Act is about protecting our elections and ensuring only eligible citizens can vote. Why would anyone be against that unless they have something to hide?
V
VoterIDMattersVerifiedjust now
Because they know they can't win fair and square. That's why they fight voter ID requirements so hard.

Finally someone is calling out these Hollywood elites for spreading misinformation! They have massive platforms and zero accountability.

Exactly! They lecture us regular folks while living in their ivory towers.

My neighbor was sharing Streep's post on Facebook yesterday and I had to set the record straight. These lies spread so fast on social media!

Can someone explain what specific parts of the SAVE America Act she was lying about? I want to make sure I have my facts straight when discussing this with friends.

Hollywood celebrities using fashion events as political platforms is getting out of hand. Stick to acting, Meryl.
