Another day, another Democrat trying to run away from the Biden administration's catastrophic border failures. Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti, who's gunning for a House seat, is now calling Biden's southern border policies "a huge misstep" – conveniently forgetting she backed the same approach that turned our border into Swiss cheese.
This is the same playbook we've seen from desperate Democrats across the country: support the radical open-borders agenda when it's politically convenient, then scramble for cover when Americans see the devastating consequences firsthand.
Cognetti's sudden awakening on border security reeks of political desperation. Where was this "concern" when Biden dismantled Trump's successful border wall and Remain in Mexico policies? Where was her voice when fentanyl started pouring across our border, killing 70,000 Americans annually?
Too Little, Too Late
The truth is, Cognetti and her fellow Democrats enabled the greatest border disaster in American history. They cheered as Biden issued executive orders that essentially hung up a "Welcome" sign for cartels, human traffickers, and anyone else looking to exploit our broken system.
"You can't spend years supporting policies that destroy border security, then suddenly pretend you're tough on immigration when election season rolls around," said one GOP strategist familiar with the race.
This flip-flop perfectly illustrates why Americans handed Republicans decisive control of government in 2024. Voters saw through the Democrats' gaslighting on immigration, crime, and the economy – and they're clearly not buying what Cognetti is selling now.
President Trump's mass deportation program is already showing results, proving that strong leadership and actual enforcement work. Meanwhile, Democrats like Cognetti are left trying to explain away their complicity in the Biden border catastrophe.
Patriots in battleground districts need to remember who stood with them when it mattered – and who only found their voice when their political careers were on the line. Will voters reward this kind of opportunistic flip-flopping, or demand representatives who actually fight for America First policies from day one?
