A violent Salvadoran gang member wanted for murder in his home country tried to run down Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers with his vehicle during an arrest operation in California — but ICE agents fought back, opening fire and sending the would-be cop killer to the hospital.

Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez, an alleged member of the notorious 18th Street gang, weaponized his vehicle in what can only be described as an attempted assassination of federal law enforcement officers conducting President Trump's mass deportation agenda.

According to ICE Director reports, agents were conducting a targeted vehicle stop to apprehend Hernandez when the suspected murderer made his deadly move. Rather than surrender peacefully, this criminal illegal immigrant chose violence against the very officers working to protect American communities from foreign gang members.

"ICE says a criminal illegal and alleged gang member from El Salvador 'weaponized his vehicle in an attempt to run an officer over' during a vehicle stop in California," reported @Gist_media_05 on social media, highlighting how these dangerous criminals are willing to kill to avoid deportation.

This shocking incident perfectly illustrates why President Trump's aggressive deportation policies are absolutely necessary. We're not dealing with harmless "migrants seeking a better life" — we're dealing with violent gang members who murder people in their home countries, then bring that same violence to American soil.

The 18th Street gang is one of the most brutal criminal organizations in Central America, responsible for countless murders, drug trafficking, and extortion rackets. That this monster was roaming free in California until Trump's ICE crackdown shows just how badly the Biden administration failed to protect Americans.

Trump's Promise Delivered

This is exactly the kind of operation Americans voted for when they overwhelmingly chose Trump's "America First" agenda. No more catch-and-release. No more sanctuary cities protecting foreign killers. Just swift, decisive action to remove violent criminals who have no right to be on American soil.

How many more Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandezes are lurking in our communities, waiting to strike? Thank God our ICE agents were prepared to defend themselves — and defend America.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Our ICE agents put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe from dangerous criminals like this.

Absolutely right. These agents deserve our full support, not attacks from violent thugs.

Good thing our agents were armed and ready to defend themselves. Does anyone know if the gang member survived or what charges he's facing?

Thank God our ICE agents are trained professionals who can handle these dangerous situations!

This is what happens when we don't have proper vetting and strong immigration enforcement. These violent gang members shouldn't be on our streets in the first place.

This is exactly why we need strong border enforcement. My nephew works for ICE and the stories he tells me about what these agents face daily would shock most Americans.

Attempted murder of federal agents should be an automatic life sentence. No plea deals, no early release.
