The political vultures are circling Rep. Eric Swalwell's disastrous California gubernatorial campaign, with the scandal-plagued Democrat hemorrhaging endorsements so badly that even his own lawyer is crying foul on national television.
On Friday's CNN broadcast, Swalwell attorney Elias Dabaie desperately tried to spin his client's collapsing support, claiming that endorsement withdrawals are due to "political machinations" designed to "consolidate" the vote around other candidates. Translation: Even Democrats know Swalwell is toxic.
This is the same Eric Swalwell who was caught red-handed in a honey trap operation with Chinese spy Fang Fang, yet somehow kept his seat on the House Intelligence Committee while Democrats lectured America about "foreign interference." Now that he's running for governor, his own party is finally admitting what patriots have known all along – this guy is a national security disaster waiting to happen.
Democrats Running for the Hills
The fact that Swalwell's lawyer is making excuses on CNN tells you everything about how badly this campaign is going. When your attorney has to go on television to explain why your supporters are abandoning ship, you're not running a political campaign – you're managing a controlled demolition.
"I suspect that there are political machinations," Dabaie whined to CNN, apparently shocked that Democrats might actually have standards when it comes to statewide office.
This is rich coming from the party that spent four years screaming about Russian collusion while one of their own Intelligence Committee members was literally compromised by Chinese intelligence. The hypocrisy is staggering, but hardly surprising from the party that brought us the Biden laptop cover-up.
California voters deserve better than a governor who can't even keep the trust of his own party. If Swalwell can't maintain endorsements from fellow Democrats, how can Californians trust him to protect their state from foreign adversaries?
The real question isn't why Swalwell is losing endorsements – it's why anyone endorsed this walking security risk in the first place.
