The Trump administration's Department of Justice just sent a crystal clear message to Virginia's new Democrat Governor Abigail Spanberger: touch our gun rights and face federal court.

Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon fired off a formal warning letter to Spanberger, putting her on notice that the DOJ's Civil Rights Division is locked and loaded to file a lawsuit the moment she signs any legislation restricting Second Amendment freedoms in the Commonwealth.

"This letter provides formal notice that the Civil Rights Division will commence litigation in the event the Commonwealth of Virginia enacts any legislation that infringes upon the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners,"
Dhillon wrote in the stern warning.

Trump DOJ Means Business on Gun Rights

This is exactly what Patriots voted for in 2024 – a Justice Department that actually defends the Constitution instead of weaponizing it against Americans. Under the Biden regime, we watched as blue state governors trampled all over our God-given rights while the feds cheered them on. Not anymore.

The Trump-Vance administration is making it crystal clear that they won't stand by while Democrat governors like Spanberger try to turn Virginia into another California-style gun control nightmare. Virginia gun owners can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they have a federal government that actually has their backs.

Spanberger, who rode into the governor's mansion promising "common sense" gun reforms – code words every gun owner knows means unconstitutional restrictions – now faces the reality that her anti-Second Amendment agenda will meet fierce resistance from Trump's DOJ.

Constitutional Rights Under Protection

This move shows the stark difference between the Trump administration and the previous regime. While Biden's DOJ spent four years going after parents at school board meetings and targeting Trump supporters, the current Justice Department is focused on its actual job: protecting Americans' constitutional rights.

For too long, Democrat politicians have treated the Second Amendment like a suggestion rather than a fundamental right. Those days are over. Virginia gun owners now have the full weight of the federal government defending their constitutional freedoms.

Will Spanberger back down from her gun grab agenda, or will she force Trump's DOJ to follow through on their promise? Either way, Patriots win.

FINALLY! Someone standing up for our Constitutional rights. Virginia Democrats have lost their minds with these unconstitutional gun grabs.

As a VA resident, I can tell you we're not going down without a fight. These bills are pure tyranny.

My husband is a veteran and we've been law-abiding gun owners for 20 years. It's infuriating that politicians think they can just strip away our rights because of their political agenda.

Thank your husband for his service! Our veterans didn't fight overseas just to lose their rights at home.

I hope this sets a precedent for other states dealing with similar unconstitutional legislation. The federal government needs to step in when states try to violate our Bill of Rights.

Agreed, but it's ironic we need federal intervention to protect constitutional rights from state overreach.

This is exactly why we have the Second Amendment - to protect against government overreach like this.

Good to see the DOJ actually doing their job for once. What specific legal grounds are they using for the lawsuit threat?

The governor better think twice before signing these bills. Does anyone know which counties have already declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries?
