Remember when Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) was grandstanding during Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings, declaring that women accusers "deserve to be heard"? Well, karma has a funny way of coming full circle, and now Swalwell is getting a taste of his own medicine.
California woman Lonna Drewes has become the fifth woman to accuse the disgraced congressman of sexual misconduct, alleging in a bombshell press conference Tuesday that Swalwell raped her eight years ago after spiking her drink.
This is the same Eric Swalwell who was caught having an affair with Chinese spy Fang Fang, yet somehow still sits on the House Intelligence Committee. The same politician who spent years pushing the Russia hoax while being compromised by foreign agents himself.
The Hypocrisy is Staggering
During the 2018 Kavanaugh circus, Swalwell was one of the loudest voices demanding the future Supreme Court Justice be disqualified based on decades-old allegations with zero corroborating evidence. He tweeted relentlessly about "believing women" and insisted every accuser had the right to destroy a man's reputation without proof.
"These women deserve to be heard, and their allegations deserve to be thoroughly investigated," Swalwell proclaimed during the Kavanaugh hearings.
Now that the shoe is on the other foot, where are those same standards? Where's the media feeding frenzy? Where are the calls for Swalwell to immediately resign from Congress?
The deafening silence from the mainstream media tells you everything you need to know about their selective outrage. When it's a conservative nominee, unsubstantiated allegations become front-page news for weeks. When it's one of their own Democrats, suddenly they're nowhere to be found.
A Pattern of Corruption
This latest accusation fits a disturbing pattern for Swalwell, who has repeatedly shown he believes rules don't apply to him. From his compromising relationship with foreign spies to his role in promoting election conspiracy theories, this is a man who has repeatedly betrayed the American people's trust.
Patriots deserve to know: will Swalwell face the same standard he demanded for Justice Kavanaugh? Or will the swamp protect one of their own while Americans watch justice become a two-tiered system?
