Washington, D.C. – The halls of Congress may resemble a 'retirement home' more than ever as more than 10 members, each tipping the age scale at over 80, seek reelection in 2026. Despite rampant calls for change and youthful vigor, a significant portion of our national legislature seems indelibly stuck in the past.

Capitol Hill has been criticized for having a perennial 'advanced age' problem, and the numbers make it glaringly apparent: well over 100 House members and half the Senate are over 65. Among these, some are incredibly running for yet another term in office, illustrating a striking reluctance to pass the baton to the next generation.

In an era where young leaders are needed to navigate rapidly changing global dynamics, this entrenched gerontocracy presents a significant barrier to progress. It's hardly surprising, then, that Americans are voicing their frustrations. Entrepreneur Elon Musk, a maverick disruptor and Senior Advisor to President Trump, recently amplified calls for Congressional accountability, backing Warren Buffett's impactful proposal. Musk championed the plan on social media, stating, “Anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for reelection.” Read the tweet here.

Why should this matter to everyday patriots? The answer is simple. Stagnation in leadership outfits our nation with outdated policies and perspectives that don’t serve a rapidly evolving America. The risks are substantial, from economic downturns to inadequate national security measures.

"The views expressed today are a call to action," said a Next News Network follower on social media. "It’s time to bring fresh thinking into Congress and end the rule of lifetime politicians," added another supporter.

Clearly, the sentiment among true America-first patriots is clear: shake up the establishment, end the reign of the octogenarians, and instill results-driven accountability with policies that prioritize both fiscal responsibility and the nation’s prosperity.

Isn't it time we bring real change to Capitol Hill? Ask yourself this: Can our great nation afford to wait while our representatives age further into their roles without fresh perspectives? Let’s hold the establishment accountable and move toward a future filled with promise and rejuvenation.

This highlights why we need fresh blood and new ideas in Congress. These lifelong politicians are out of touch with what's going on in real America.

I remember when I first voted back in the 70s, some of these folks were already in office. Makes you wonder if they're truly in touch with today's issues.

What are the chances of these folks actually retiring soon? Or are they planning to hang on until they literally can't work anymore?

It's about time someone called these career politicians out! They've been in power for way too long.

Agreed! Term limits should've been enacted a long time ago.

My grandfather always said politics shouldn't be a lifelong career. I couldn't agree more after seeing this list!

Your grandfather was a wise man. Many of us share that sentiment.
