Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, notorious for her radical leftist policies, appears to be angling for a shot at the presidency in 2028. However, she’s finding it difficult to shake off her extremist past. With the nation still reeling from the impact of her ‘defund the police’ and ‘abolish ICE’ campaigns, AOC is trying to adopt a more mainstream narrative. But let’s not forget, folks, she used to scream these radical ideas from the rooftops.
What’s causing this sudden image makeover? It seems that AOC, seeing the appeal of a presidential run, is desperately trying to distance herself from her previous 'woke' agenda. Yet on social media, voters are quick to remind everyone of her true colors. One Twitter user, @Mayjay042, highlights: “Trump says AOC is positioning herself for 2028 — and now she’s trying to distance herself from the ‘woke’ agenda. But voters remember. Crime. Sanctuary cities. Open-border policies. You can’t rewrite the past just because an election is coming. We’re watching.”
Republican leaders aren't fooled either. Governor Ron DeSantis took issue with AOC's attempt at rewriting history, as captured in a tweet by @RichSementa, pointing out, “People making the statements about abolishing prisons and abolishing the police. Oh, that was just woke one… Like, really, like you just going to say that it was just a mulligan?” DeSantis, like many Americans, refuses to let AOC escape the radical shackles she once proudly wore.
Americans See Through the Veneer
While AOC’s PR team might be working overtime, everyday Americans are not buying into the narrative shift. The trust that was once fragile has now been shattered. As @BrickFlipped mentioned on Twitter, “defunding the police was never an official part of the Woke 1 platform. the capital W Woke era was a bunch of liberal bullshit that was apathetic at best and antagonistic at worst toward the more forward-thinking elements of the time. AOC doesn't get to rewrite that history.”
The crux of the matter is the enduring memory left behind by AOC’s policies, which have led to increased crime rates, sanctuary cities, and rampant illegal immigration. America deserves and demands consistent leadership, not a lawmaker who bends to political convenience.
As we look toward 2028, the people must demand accountability and transparency. Patriots, are we really going to let AOC pull the wool over our eyes? Or will we stand firm, remembering her for the radical she has always been? Your voice matters. Make sure it’s heard.
