Former President Donald Trump has made his return to social media on Thursday by posting on his Truth Social platform.
Trump wrote: “I’M BACK! #COVFEFE” in his first post.
Alongside the post, he included a photo of himself looking at his phone outside of his home in Mar-A-Lago.
The self-deprecating post is a reference to Trump’s famous 2017 tweet, which many thought to be typo: “Despite the constant negative press covfefe.”
Despite all the rumbling surrounding Twitter after Elon Musk’s buyout, Trump made a statement to Fox News that he has no plans of coming back to the app after his ban in 2021.
Trump told Fox News, “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth.”
“I think it is good. We want liberty and justice and fairness in our country, and the more we can have open, the better, but no, I don’t view that as a competition for what I am doing,” Trump continued. “This is a platform for my voice. TRUTH is a platform for my voice and for my supporters.”
Trump continued discussing his Twitter ban, “It became boring because there was no interaction, the interaction on TRUTH has been amazing. Truth Social will be a voice for me. And that’s something nobody else can get.”
Musk recently tweeted an insult leveled at Truth social saying it was a “terrible name” and “Should be called Trumpet instead!”
Truth social is currently beating Twitter and Tik Tok on Apples App store in downloads.
Musk previously discussed Twitter’s censorship and mentioned the Hunter Biden laptop story being censored as “incredibly inappropriate.”
