It is not hard to find instances of the media and elite lying. What is surprising is when they lie about something that can be easily verified as not true.

That is the case of The Daily Show host Trevor Noah, who lied that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner he MC’d in order to make fun of him. DeSantis, who turned down the invitation to attend, did not hold back on his criticism of Noah.

“The idea that I would have ever gone is false and why they would want to try to perpetuate a lie about that I don’t know. But I think it just shows you why that cabal of people in DC, New York, are so reviled by so many Americans. I think it’s a reputation that’s been well deserved,’ he noted.”  DeSantis said at a press conference according to the Daily Mail.

One of the obvious reasons that Noah lied about the Florida Governor’s appearance is that his jokes would not have worked as well if he said DeSantis was not in attendance. Noah did needle DeSantis by commenting on a growing perception of a growing rivalry with Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential campaign.

“One of my favorites, Ron DeSantis is here,’ Noah said during his routine at the dinner. ‘Oh man, I’m actually surprised that he found the time. You know he has been so busy trying to outmaneuver [former President Donald] Trump for 2024. I see you, Ron. I see you, player.”

The rivalry seemed to grow last week as DeSantis was in Las Vegas hosting a rally for Nevada Republican Senate candidate Adam Laxalt that the GOP is hoping to flip. In the middle of the rally, Trump sent out a media release endorsing Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo for Governor. This led insiders to believe Trump was trying to step on DeSantis’ event.

There may have been some initial confusion about whether DeSantis’ attended as his name was included in the event’s program. DeSantis did clear up that he never had a desire to attend.

“I don’t care what they do, but for them to advertise me when that invitation was rejected by my office, that is a lie,” he said.

Do you think that Trevor Noah intentionally lied about Ron DeSantis being at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner?
