British Actress Kate Moss dealt a brutal blow to Amber Heard in her defamation case with Johnny Depp this week.
Moss previously dated Depp between 1994 and 1998. During that period there was a rumor that Depp had pushed Moss down a set of stairs while they were on a tropical vacation. Heard then used this rumor to justify her own alleged assault against Depp during the case.
Following Heard’s decision to mention Kate Moss in court, Moss voluntarily called into court and testified under oath to set the record straight on what happened in Jamaica once and for all.
Moss, who was video calling in from England, told the courtroom, “We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did. There had been a rainstorm. As I left the room, I slid down the stairs and I hurt my back,”
The actress continued, “I screamed because I didn’t know what happened to me and I was in pain. He came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical attention.”
Then she said the one sentence that did serious damage to Heard’s claims.
“He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs.”
Amber Heard had previously testified that she had attacked Depp in self defense, motivated by the Moss accusations. She said, “[Whitney’s] back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her,” Heard testified. “I don’t hesitate, I don’t wait — I just, in my head, instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs. And I swung at him.”
The co-star of Aquaman continued, “In all of my relationship to date with Johnny, I hadn’t landed a blow. And I, for the first time, hit him — like, actually hit him. Square in the face.”
“He didn’t push my sister down the stairs.” Heard testified, another reference to the Moss incident. (Henriquez, Heard’s sister, testified later that Depp hit her and then “repeatedly” struck Heard)
“I remembered information I had heard [that] he pushed a former girlfriend — I believe it was Kate Moss — down the stairs,” Heard previously testified in that overseas case while describing the same fight involving her sister and Depp. “I had heard this rumor from two people and it was fresh in my mind.”
Heard had previously referenced the Kate Moss incident in court when they first faced off in a defamation case in U.K. courts in 2020.
Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million after he sued her for $50 million for irreparable damage to his reputation and career. Who do you think is making the most compelling case so far?
