President Joe Biden let his true feelings about gun owners out last Friday.
The openly anti-gun Democrat leader was speaking at an event in Beverly Hills when he claimed that gun owners were a danger to themselves.
Speaking to fellow Democrats at the Reception for the Democratic National Committee, Biden used a derogatory voice to mock a fictional gun owner he spoke to on the campaign trail.
“They’d say, ‘God darn, Joe, what the hell are you doing taking my gun away?'” Biden claimed he was told.
He continued, posing a question of his own to the fictional gun enthusiast, “And I said, ‘Let me ask you a question.’ I said, ‘How many — when you go deer hunting, how many deer are wearing Kevlar vests?'”
That’s when the sitting president made the incredibly demeaning statement about gun owners, “By the way, if you need 30, 40, 60, up to 100 rounds to fire,’ I said, ‘you’re a danger to yourself, man,” the president recalled.
Conservatives on Twitter were quick to criticize Biden’s accusations.
Later on during his presentation, Biden also made the claim that more people die trying to stop a burglar with a gun than “any other cause”.
“More people get killed with their own gun in their home trying to stop a burglar than, in fact, any other cause.” He said. “Think about that. Because it’s hard to do. It’s a hard thing to do.”
Despite his clear ire for gun enthusiasts, Biden made an attempt to reframe himself, bragging about a pair of shotguns he owns.
“I’m a gun owner. I own two shotguns. My son Beau passed away. He had another shotgun,” he said. “We used to like to skeet shoot. We weren’t hunters.”
Biden has made it clear in recent statements that he is not a fan of many guns, even having openly suggested a possible ban on handguns. Despite this, he has agreed to sign a new bi-partisan Senate “gun control” bill that will add a waiting period and juvenile background check to purchasers under 21, amongst other provisions, none of which are close to his goal of an assault weapons ban or reduction on ammo capacity.
Do you think Joe Biden really hates gun owners or is he just rambling at this point? Do you think he will keep fighting or will he just call the new bill a win and move on?
