Sunny Hostin, often called the most liberal host on the left leaning daytime talk show The View, revealed today that she is 100% pro-life.
The hosts were discussing the recent ruling by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade abortion protections. Hostin weighed in quickly, revealing her shocking stance on the issue.
Hostin first said she is against abortion with zero exceptions.
“I don’t believe in abortion, at any time. I don’t believe in any exception to it,” Hostin declared.
“Even incest and rape?” asked a shocked Sarah Haines, clearly confused by the statement.
Seemingly offended by the question from Haines, Hostin fired back, declaring all abortion as “radical” and saying she is a devout Catholic.
“No, I don’t,” the host said. “That’s considered very radical for many people, and it’s because I’m Catholic and that’s my faith.”
Hostin, a lawyer by trade, did go ahead and criticize the Court’s decision from a legal standpoint, saying SCOTUS Justices should not use their faith to make decisions, even though she agrees with rescinding Roe v Wade.
“The justices – there are six Catholics on the bench, and there will be two Protestants because the newest justice, Ketanji Brown Jackson, is Protestant and there will be one person of Jewish faith. This is an activist Supreme Court and they should not be deciding the law based on their faith,” said Hostin. “And even though I agree with [Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito] on the sanctity of life…but the fact that he clearly is using his religion and wielding it is pretty terrible.”
Despite her assertion on the decision being made on faith, the Supreme Court actually did nothing to protect the “sanctity of life” with their decision, simply declaring that the initial ruling was wrong and abortion is not currently a protected right.
They did leave the issue open for individual states to decide, meaning they were okay with allowing abortion to continue if voters want it. They also left it open for Congress to legislate abortion access as a right in the future if they can round up the votes.
