CNN Host Don Lemon went off on the Republican party this week, declaring that Republicans are now a threat to society.
The host of primetime show Don Lemon Tonight went on CNN’s “New Day” as a guest to discuss right wing extremist groups after he interviewed the former spokesman for the Oath Keepers, Jason Van Tatenhove, on his own show the night before.
Lemon began by suggesting that reporters need to stop what he viewed as a “false equivalence” between Republicans and Democrats following the actions of several extremist militias around the January 6th riot as well as other major events around the nation.
“We sit around and we talk about these things and we want to give this false equivalence to Democrats and Republicans. That is not where we are right now. Republicans are doing something that is very dangerous to our society and we have to acknowledge that. We have to acknowledge that as Americans, we must acknowledge that as journalists because if we don’t, we are not doing our jobs,” the talk show host declared.
He then went through a list of liberal news networks, suggesting that they were the only ones honest enough to ask Republican politicians the tough questions.
“They have to answer for those questions if they come here on CNN, they must answer for that. If they go on MSNBC, they must answer for that. If they go on ABC, they must answer for that. And they cannot expect to be coddled when they go on to a news organization or if they step in front of a crowd of supporters or voters or Americans.”
While the threat posed by some of these extremist organizations on the right should not be ignored by law enforcement, Don Lemon failed to mention groups like Antifa and the Black Panthers, similar Left wing organizations known for their violent tactics and intimidation campaigns against the public.
The media famously failed to criticize Antifa when they first arose to public notoriety in the United States. Many journalists on the networks mentioned by Lemon even defended the actions of the violent extremists while they started fights and burned down buildings.
Recently, several left wing extremist pro-abortion organizations like Ruth Sent Us and ShutDownDC have organized intimidation campaigns to intimidate conservative Supreme Court Justices. Other groups have gone further, fire bombing pregnancy centers and even threatening violence.
It’s hard to see where Don Lemon is coming from by suggesting the so-called “false equivalency” when you bring in these other dangerous militias on the left. Do you think its time for politicians and the media to stop picking sides and hold all of these radical groups accountable for the safety of the people they were elected to lead?
