Former President Donald Trump responded after a bipartisan group of senators announced proposals to alter federal election law to clarify the Vice President’s power in certifying the results of an election.
The move is contained in two bills named the Electoral College Count and Presidential Transition Improvement Act and the Enhanced Election Security and Protection Act. They are aimed at stopping the pathways that Trump’s team tried to use to decertify the election by using the role of the Vice President to stop it and the second bill is aimed at protecting election workers.
Here’s News Center Maine’s coverage of the new laws.
The measures are sponsored by Sen. Susan Collins, a well-known Trump-hater, and Sen. Joe Manchin.
Trump quickly responded on Truth Social and pointed out what he perceived as hypocrisy in the move. H also called the Vice President a “human conveyer belt” in describing his role in certifying the election.
“So the Democrats, RINOS, and almost ALL others said that Mike Pence, or any V.P., had absolutely no right to do anything but send the “Votes” to the Old Broken Crow, Mitch McConnell, even if they were fraudulent, corrupt, or highly irregular. The V.P. was merely a “human conveyer belt” and could do nothing. BUT NOW, the DEMS & RINOS are working to pass a Bill that stops the V.P. from doing what he was not allowed, according to them, to do. It was all a “Big Lie.” Should have sent back to States!” he said.

Do you think this is a good move by Senators to strengthen elections or just the federal government protecting itself from populists like Trump? They are afraid of the people that they serve. Are you ready for conservatives to take back the House and Senate this year? Which side are you voting for?
