The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency did not begin testing the state’s water utilities for the presence of “forever chemicals” until August 2020, despite numerous warning signs that the drinking water in Illinois is tainted with “forever chemicals” that can cause cancer and other diseases for years.

According To the Chicago Tribune. Last year, Congress set aside $10 billion for PFAS-related loans and grants. A few municipal utilities are already applying for low-interest, taxpayer-financed loans through the same program Freeport is relying on to remove contaminated water from the city.
As it seems in most cases that there are problems in communities across the country that need to be addressed immediately for public safety concerns. For obvious reasons the local, state, and federal governments don’t want the public to know about these issues, that is until there is money involved.
