The Department of Justice (DOJ) has been caught in a huge lie after originally denying that they seized President Trump’s passports while the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago home last week.
On Monday, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Wow. In the raid by the FBI or Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else. This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never before seen in our country. Third World!”
Originally, a DOJ insider told CBS that the agency did not have the passports but added whatever was seized that was not on the warrant will be returned, according to the Daily Mail.
CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell wrote on Twitter, “NEW: According to a DOJ official, the FBI is NOT in possession of former President Trump’s passports. Trump had accused the FBI of stealing his three passports during the search of his Mar-a-Lago home.”
However, late Monday night, NBC News reported that a Justice Department official told their news outlet that “passports belonging to Donald Trump have been returned.”
On Truth Social, President Trump has also accused the FBI of taking documents that fall under attorney-client privilege and demanded their return.
“Oh great! It has just been learned that the FBI, in its now famous raid of Mar-a-Lago, took boxes of privileged ‘attorney-client’ material, and also ‘executive’ privileged material, which they knowingly should not have taken,” Trump said on Sunday.
