The Justice Department and President Trump are on opposite sides when it comes to unsealing the affidavit connected to the FBI’s unannounced raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home last week.
The affidavit would contain the reasoning as to why the government conducted the search on Trump’s home.
Trump is calling for the affidavit be be unsealed, writing on Truth Social, “There is no way to justify the unannounced RAID of Mar-a-Lago, the home of the 45th President of the United States (who got more votes, by far, than any sitting President in the history of our Country!), by a very large number of gun toting FBI Agents, and the Department of “Justice” but, in the interest of TRANSPARENCY, I call for the immediate release of the completely Unredacted Affidavit pertaining to this horrible and shocking BREAK-IN. Also, the Judge on this case should recuse!”
Meanwhile, according to NBC News, “Justice Department lawyers on Monday asked the judge who approved the search warrant for former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort to keep the accompanying affidavit under seal, citing a need to protect witnesses and the ongoing investigation.”
The outlet noted, “Federal prosecutors responded to inquiries from numerous news organizations, including NBC News, to make the affidavit public by arguing it should remain sealed “to protect the integrity of an ongoing law enforcement investigation that implicates national security. They also said the affidavit contains “highly sensitive information about witnesses, including witnesses interviewed by the government; specific investigative techniques; and information required by law to be kept under seal.”
Trump attorney Christina Bobb joined ‘The Ingraham Angle’ to discuss the Department of Justice’s request to keep the raid affidavit sealed.
