Liz Cheney finally lost her congressional seat last week and she is not happy. Democrats have been championing her for the last month during the January 6 hearings, but now it seems like she may have lost their support as well.
Liz Cheney may have no allies left after this latest development.
After Liz Cheney’s reelection bid failed to make it beyond the Republican primary last week, the left quickly turned against her.
The Daily Wire Reports, Several left-leaning Twitter accounts, as well as media pundits and elected Democrats, have praised the former Republican leader for her work on the January 6th Committee and her opposition to President Trump. After losing her primary – to Trump-backed Harriet Hageman – and hinting at a 2024 presidential run, the left abandoned her.
Larry Middleton made it clear that he appreciated Cheney’s efforts with regard to the January 6th Committee, but he did not trust her with anything beyond that. He tweeted, “Remember folks, Liz Cheney voted with Trump 93% of the time. So, while her work on the 1/6 Committee is purportedly to save democracy, her goal is NOT to save the democrats. Don’t get it twisted.”
@_TheLadyGrey added, “Never ever will you catch me cheering on someone who applauded the removal of reproductive rights of women and voted with Trump 93% of the time,” “I’ll hold my praise for someone worthy of it. A Republican is still a Republican. Cheney’s not a f***ing hero.”
Michael J. Stern, a columnist for USA Today, explained, “Liz Cheney put country over party when Trump ignited an insurrection in an effort to take over American Democracy. She gets credit for that. But, she voted with Trump 93% of the time. She celebrated the end of Roe. Quit saying you’ll vote for her if she runs for president.”
Another added, “I seriously can’t understand lifelong ‘Democrats’ & ‘resisters’ who would vote for Liz Cheney if she ran in 2024,” “She Voted against the Voting rights act, giving a boost to voter suppression. Bragged when Roe vs Wade was overturned, voted with Trump 93% and look at this gem …”

Attached was a screenshot of a 2016 tweet from Cheney that read, “Hillary Clinton is a serial liar guilty of criminal behavior & must never again have access to classified material.”
These comments come after Cheney vowed to fight Republicans who embraced Trump’s “Lies”
According to The Guardian, Cheney said that some of the most prominent Republican figures are now within her sights. In her remarks, she mentioned Kevin McCarthy, Ron DeSantis, Ted Cruz, and Josh Hawley – all of whom support Trump openly
Cheney has announced plans to set up a new political organization and has indicated that she may run for president in 2024 to prevent Trump from reentering power.
Cheney said two Republican senators – Cruz of Texas and Hawley of Missouri – made themselves “unfit for office”. As she put it, “both understand the role Congress plays in presidential elections, yet both have taken actions that fundamentally threaten the constitutional system”.
At a time when Republicans are so fired up and backing President Trump perhaps more than ever, it’s a bad move on Cheney’s part to go against Trump. Now that she’s also lost the support of the Democrats who supported her throughout the J6 hearings, Cheney is out of allies and out of luck.
